“Do the opposite” is your tip for July. To be more productive, de-stress and re-focus you seriously need to have a lunch break, particularly if you haven’t had any mini-breaks every 90 minutes.
To make the most of your break, do the opposite:
If you’ve been sitting, stand to eat your lunch.
If you’ve been standing, then definitely sit down.
Stationary, then go for a walk.
Indoors, then go outdoors.
Solitary, find/call a friend.
Teamwork or noisy work environment, then go somewhere quiet alone, and that could be inside your headphones, pretending to listen to music.
Skip the sugary drinks and fatty takeaways.
Drink water and have light, nourishing food.
Ignore peer pressure to stay stuck and unproductive at your desk.Research backs you.
When you return, take a moment to re-focus on your afternoon plan, then immediate priority.
Be really present, pushing all else either out into the future, or back into the past.
Sharp focus is more productive and satisfying than multitasking.
One completed task is worth more than 10 unfinished.
Ensure it’s your priority, not someone else’s.
